Adult Tennis Clinic Descriptions

SBA Tennis & Pickleball offers tennis clinics for adults aged 18+ for all different skill levels. Each clinic session lasts 4-6 weeks long and has a maximum instructor:participant ratio of 6:1. Students will be separated into clinics based on their Skill Level (Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate).

Skill Levels:

Adult Beginning: For students with little to no previous tennis instruction. Students will learn rules of the game, forehands, backhands, and serves. By the end of this course, students should be able to participate in rallies and point play with Green Balls (75% of the speed/bounce of standard yellow balls) using good form. Those who can successfully achieve this will be recommended to move onto Adult Advanced Beginning while those who still need work will be recommended to repeat another session of Adult Beginning.

Adult Advanced Beginning: For recommended previous Adult Beginning students or for those who can participate in rallies and point play with Green Balls using good form. Students will learn volleys, overheads, and basic singles/doubles strategy in addition to improving upon previously learned skills. By the end of this course, students should be able to begin playing matches using standard yellow balls and be somewhat consistent with changing pace and direction of their shots. Those who can successfully achieve this will be recommended to move onto Adult Intermediate while those who still need work will be recommended to repeat another session of Adult Advanced Beginning.

Adult Intermediate: For recommended previous Adult Advanced Beginning students or for those who exhibit good form during their strokes, can sustain rallies with other students, and be somewhat consistent with changing pace and direction of their shots. Students will learn return of serve, lob shots and basic matchplay strategy in addition to improving upon previously learned skills. By the end of this course, students should exhibit good form during all basic strokes (forehands, backhands, serves, volleys, overheads ) and be comfortable with playing matches. Students at this level can continue to take these courses as a way to continuously improve upon their skills.
